The man from Sydney was last seen at his workplace in Redfern and initial searches for Mr McKenzie were concentrated in the city.
The search soon widened to include the Hunter when Mr McKenzie’s vehicle was found abandoned and out of fuel on Putty Road at Singleton.
It is believed the car was driven in the Hunter Region between Wednesday, May 3, and Thursday, May 4, 2006.
Mr McKenzie has not been seen or heard from since.
He is described as 175 centimetres tall, slim build, with blue eyes and shaved blond hair.
He also has several tattoos, including Chinese characters on his chest, a tiger on his back and other tattoos on his legs, shoulders and back.
