During a visit to Medowie on Tuesday, Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced $827,690 had been secured by the government and Regional Broadcasting Australia Holdings to improve terrestrial coverage.
“[Paterson MP] Bob Baldwin has been relentless in fighting for residents experiencing TV reception issues in Paterson over a long period, and it is due, in no small part, to his advocacy that funding to improve TV reception has been secured,” Mr Turnbull said.
“Because of Bob’s great work I am very well aware of the frustrations poor TV reception causes for people in Paterson and both Bob and I are pleased to have reached a positive outcome to assist with coverage issues.”
Mr Baldwin said more than a third of his constituents had experienced intermittent digital TV reception for the past five years.
“I am delighted to be able to announce this funding today, which will assist the regional broadcasters in building the infrastructure that will help alleviate digital television reception issues for many of my constituents,” he said.
