The libraries will host Aboriginal basket weaving workshops with proud Awabakal woman Michelle Earl.
Two sessions will be held on Friday.
The first is at Cessnock City Library from 10am to noon. The second is at Kurri Kurri Library from 2pm to 4pm.
The free workshops enable adults to learn the traditional skill of basket weaving and all materials and tools will be provided.
Also at Cessnock Library, members of the Cessnock Mineral and Gem Club will be providing demonstrations of faceting stones, silver jewellery making and polymer jewellery making.
The displays will take place in the Cessnock Library foyer from 10am to 2pm on Friday and Monday.
Adult Learners’ Week is celebrated with hundreds of events and activities designed to promote the benefits of learning in the home, at work and in the community.
Meanwhile, the crafty activity will continue with both libraries running free lantern making workshops in the lead-up to the Spring Awakening Festival.
The first will be at Cessnock City Library on Monday at 4pm. The second will be at Kurri Kurri Library on Tuesday at 4pm.
The Spring Awakening Festival will be held at Cessnock TAFE on Friday, September 11.
The paper lanterns will be used in this year’s lantern parade that will lead to the TAFE grounds.
