He twists and turns the bumps and berms of a BMX track and this weekend the Francis Greenway High School student will pit his skills against the best riders in NSW.
Smith will be one of 61 members of Maitland Tenambit BMX Club that will contest the 2015 State Titles at Lake Macquarie.
He will be part of the 13 boys’ section, alongside clubmates Michael Challinor and George Davis.
The divisions range from five-year sprockets with Nate Sinclair, to the open men, which will pit Magpies including Jarod Berry, Reid Clough, Thomas Hubert, Thomas Markus and Bowen Muncaster against stars like Luke Madill.
In top women’s class and Maitland Tenambit will have Tenae Brooks, Kristy Gilbert-Watson and Gemma Taylor in the mix.
The Magpies were presented with specially made red, black and white uniforms for state titles at their Tenambit track headquarters on Tuesday.
State coaching clinics were held on Thursday.
Practice sessions will take place on Friday.
Action at Argenton will be from 9am on Saturday and Sunday.
