The Troy Macdonald-trained runner will launch his bid for a $5000 winner’s prize from box one after clocking 24.79 seconds in last week’s heat.
This equalled the previous mark over the 450 metre journey at Maitland and was well inside the next best qualifier for the non-graded decider.
Sannette Chop, trained by Beau Hedley, went 24.94s in edging out He’s Some Love in 24.96s for Mark Azzopardi during the preliminaries.
They will jump from boxes five and three respectively with another heat winner Vanilla Opal in between wearing the blue rug.
Tobias Rumble, Dynamic Goodwin and Avondale As round out the field in the wider boxes of six, seven and eight respectively.
Tobias Rumble and Dynamic Goodwin are both coming off success last week but will be hoping to break the 25 second barrier at the track for the first time.
Outside of cash the feature race victor also earns a straw to East Maitland-owned sire Keybow.
There is $800 to be split between the minor placings.
Elsewhere on the card there will be four heats of the Maitland Business Houses series over 400 metres with the top two runners progressing to next week’s final.
Cosmic Jackpot, Voltaire, Little Ramona, Happy Rogan and Jeteye Junior were all successful last start.
Laurie’s Special has been scratched from the second heat and will more than likely be replaced by first reserve Turbo Tahnee.
In the same heat Maitland Greyhound Club sponsorship and promotions manager Fred Robertson nominated Len’s Pick (race five, number one) as his best bet of the day.
Three maidens open the 11-race card.
First event jumps at 3.24pm.
