The 28-year-old had a flashback to his junior days when the Thornton Redbacks would travel to meet the Lochinvar Rovers on a Saturday morning.
Kennedy was joined in the heart of the Hunter by Newcastle Jets teammates Jason Hoffman and Mitch Cooper for a primary school visit to St Patrick’s at Lochinvar.
The 56 year 2 students, many of them football players, were excited by the visit with some wearing Jets supporters’ gear along.
They then took part in small-sided games, showed off individual skills and fired questions at the professional players.
The children at Lochinvar earned the visit after winning a Jets sponsorship competition – Decorate your gate.
The Jets, who tackle the Central Coast Mariners at home on Saturday afternoon, also swung by primary schools at West Wallsend and Merewether on Monday.
There will be another 30 school visits before the end of the 2015-2016 A-League season, split evenly either side of Christmas.
Entries are still open with details available on the Jets website.
