During the campaign to help Jorja meet her idol, Maitland cheered the loudest.
The tight-knit community has always come to the aid of those in need, championed those who succeed and in this case made a little girl’s dream come true.
From Tenambit Public School, which has provided support for the Hope family since Jorja’s diagnosis with hearing difficulties, to the family friend who sourced the concert tickets, this has been a community effort. The singing teacher who noticed Jorja’s hearing difficulties and the Auslan group that is teaching her new ways of communicating all deserve praise.
Chloe the devoted sister, whose thoughtfulness at such a young age is astonishing, played the main role in making this happen.
Local businesses setup a beauty salon inside a residential home and staff gave their time to treat the twins to hair, make-up and nails make over.
Other businesses supplied the girls with dresses, perfume and more.
When it came time to leave for Sydney a limousine, provided free of charge, picked the family up and drove away as a crowd of friends and family cheered them on.
When readers look at the photograph of a smiling Jorja in the arms a pop superstar they should feel pride that they are part of such a supportive and uplifting community.
Whether you liked her story on Facbook or know the Hope family, every person made a difference to how Jorja’s fairytale played out.
On behalf of the Mercury and the Hope family – thank you.
