This won’t be the first time Shane Hill gets a bit Simpson-esque with his hair for charity, but the 29-year-old said this March will be his most ambitious cancer fundraiser yet.

Mr Hill will keep his hair dyed bright blue throughout March. While towering well over 190.5cm (6”3” in the old measure), he’ll be pretty hard to miss.
Mr Hill will also host a community fun day at Rutherford’s Hunter Super Centre on March 13 complete with jumping castles, prizes, face painting, food and special guests Olaf from Frozen and Buzz Lightyear.
He will raffle family passes to Taronga Zoo, dolphin cruises, Treetop Adventure Park, a double pass to a quadbike session at Stockton dunes and movie tickets.
He hopes that if he goes all out, the community will match his enthusiasm with donations.
“I just wanted to do something a bit different,” he said.
“It’s a way of giving back and helping out those who are going through this.”
Mr Hill, as with most Australians, has had a brush with cancer. He lost his cousin to cancer when he was eight and then his uncle 14 months ago.
“This will be my third World’s Greatest Shave, but I’ve done the blue hair before,” he said.
“I’ve participated in Blue September a few times for prostate cancer as well. I just thought I’d keep that going.”
Mr Hill estimated he had raised about $8000 through various fundraisers but hoped to break $10,000 in March.
“It’s amazing what people give, how generous they are, when they find out you’re raising money for cancer,” he said.
Mr Hill has enlisted Casey Hosking from Hair at Sweethearts on Maitland’s High Street to dye his hair.
