The first Wollombi Classic Film Festival is set down for February 26 to 28 and aims to attract more people to the picturesque village.
“We’ve been running Flicks on the Green for four years and it is very popular in the Wollombi Valley,” festival organiser Adrian Buckley said.
“We wanted to expand to do something more significant and we hope that it can develop into a film festival, not just a classic film event.”
Festival goers will be treated to six classic films at two venues, including an evening outdoor cinema in the Grays Inn Garden and indoor screenings at the beautiful St Michael’s Church.
The festival program spans more than 40 years of cinema and includes Australian classics including Strictly Ballroom and Picnic at Hanging Rock.
Festival goers can also watch screenings of A Place in The Sun, Rebel Without a Cause, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold and Chinatown.
The festival opens with a garden cocktail party from 6.30pm on the Friday.
Tickets are $100 for the full weekend or $60 for the gala opening night and two films of choice.
Free camping is available at the Wollombi Tavern and there is accommodation in the village.
