But Morris is looking forward to giving new talent a chance starting with Saturday’s FFA Cup clash against Beresfied.
“We had a very settled team for the last four or five years and not many people broke into it,” he said.
“These young fellas we’ve brought up are going to get their chance and they’re doing extremely well at training, so I couldn’t be happier.
“Carl, Brock and Liam were quality defenders and no one likes losing them. But someone goes, someone else gets a chance.
“I’m not looking backwards, I’m looking forwards and I can’t complain about what the young fellas have been doing.
“I’ve got no problem with promoting young players. Age doesn’t matter if you’ve got the goods, the age is just a number ... who cares.
“At the end of the day, how do you get experience if you’re not thrown in there.”
Morris said the club was keeping its goals and targets for the season simple.
We’ve set our goals and targets, there’s a lot of young fellows who are going to get a run this season.
We’re just going to keep it very simple. We’re going to break it down into 18 phases, which basically means one week at a time.”
The Bears have added Greg Anderson from Hamilton Olympic and former South Cardiff first graders Lee Ashton, Ashlee Balcomb, Mitch Wallace and Nathan Stevens to their list.
“Their attitude at training is great and it’s rubbing off on the younger players,” Morris said of the recruits.
“We’ve got plenty of good senior players in the squad mixed with a lot of youth. I think that’s a good formula.”
Nathan Stevens will be the only one of the five to start in Saturday’s FFA Cup fixture.
