The festival, now in its 13th year, has previously attracted crowds of 35,000 to the Kurri CBD.
There will be live entertainment, markets, rides, car displays and fashion parades and more in Rotary Park and Lang Street throughout Saturday and Sunday.
The popular best-dressed competitions have four separate categories – Traditional Best Dressed, Junior Best Dressed, Couples Best Dressed and a pin-up section called Miss Modern Day, which recognises the growing popularity of the scene and allows for girls that incorporate reproduction clothing, tattoos and piercings in their look.
Hunter favourites Jumpin’ Jukebox will get things rolling tonight at the free family event in Rotary Park. The party will continue at Kurri Workers Club with the Voodoo Rhythm Shakers (7pm-11pm, $10 per person).
The popular Rock ‘n’ Roll Express train ride will be held on Friday and Saturday nights. The steam train will leave Pelaw Main at 7pm and travel to Richmond Vale Railway Museum for live entertainment by Tamworth duo Lawrie and Shelly Minson before heading back to Pelaw Main at 9.30pm.
Revellers are spoiled for choice on Saturday night. At The Hop will deliver a tribute to Australia’s king of rock ‘n’ roll, Johnny O’Keefe, at Kurri Workers Club (7pm-11pm, tickets $20).
Over at Weston Workers Club, dance the night away to rockabilly act Cherry Divine (7pm-11pm, tickets $25).
A dinner dance at Kurri TAFE will be a high school prom-style affair, featuring a ‘60s-themed dinner and entertainment by Toni Michele and the Voodoo Boys. Tickets are $65 and the show runs from 7pm to 11pm.
The festival wraps up on Sunday with the Last Chance Dance at Weston Workers Club, featuring The Infernos (5pm-8pm, tickets $20).
