Chamber CEO Kristen Keegan said the Hunter was experiencing economic transition that brought challenges, but also created opportunities.
“In fact, while some of the larger metropolitan cities across the country are struggling with how to achieve the desired 30 minute goal, our region can and already does, deliver this optimal solution,” she said.
Ms Keegan said the region’s supply chains, resources, energy and water security education and research facilities should be of interest to all levels of government.
“The fundamental message is the Hunter has unparalleled capacity at a national level to take on further growth in a sustainable and complementary manner,” she said. “And unlike many other cities across the country, we already have the successful ingredients of a 30 minute city in place.”
