The day kicked off 2016 National Family Day Care Week and was also a celebration of the day care’s 30th birthday.
Wet weather forced a last minute venue change from the day care’s Metford headquarters to Rutherford High School, but many still turned out to enjoy the festivities.
Assistant manager of the day care, Jenelle Ycas said around 300 people attended, making the most of the free activities on offer.
The day involved a sausage sizzle, jumping castle, face painting, cake cutting and petting zoo, which Ms Ycas said was the most popular activity.
The kids also had their photos taken with star cutouts, to recognise the theme for this year’s National Family Day Care Week, ‘every child is a star.’
Ms Ycas said everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
“It’s nice to be able to celebrate with the families and see the parents enjoy their children’s company,” she said.
