Hunter Stars player Emma Young and Caitlin Young are part of the Australian team along with Ruan Sims, sister of the Newcastle Knights brothers Korbin and Tariq.
Young, a member of the now defunct Maitland Pickers women’s team, is hoping to enjoy her first Test match since winning the 2013 World Cup.
“I feel honoured to play for my country in my home town,” she said.
Moran has the chance to make her international debut on home turf after being named in the Australian team.
The Jillaroos and Ferns Test is part of a double header with the men’s Anzac Test.
The 18 players assembled at Newcastle Harbour on Monday with 20-year-old Moran proudly wearing the green and gold colours of her country for the first time.
“It’s daunting and exciting all at the same, but I’m very honoured to have this opportunity,” Moran said.
“Especially here in my home town where I grew up, there has been a lot of support behind me with family and friends.”
Sims will have her maiden run as captain.
The starting 17 will be finalised by Jillaroos coach Steve Folkes later in the week. Kick-off is 5.20pm.
Meanwhile, Knights coach Nathan Brown has no doubt dummy-half dynamo Danny Levi will handle the daunting step up in class if he is required to play in Friday’s Anzac Test at Hunter Stadium.
The Newcastle rake, who turns 21 in nine days, has been named as 19th man for New Zealand, who are expected to use either Brisbane’s Kodi Nikorima or Penrith utility Lewis Brown as hooker against Australia.
Brown’s understanding is that Levi has been included to groom him for the future, but on the off chance he was chosen to make his Test debut, he was confident his promising protege would not be overawed.
“I would have thought if Danny needed to be involved, he’d give a good account of himself,’’ Brown told the Newcastle Herald.
“He’s playing in a side that’s got a lot of young kids in it, so if he got to play with blokes like [Jesse] Bromwich, [Jason] Taumalolo, Tohu Harris, Kevin Proctor – who’ve all had international and grand final success – I’d have thought that would only enhance his game.’’
Levi has p;layed 13 top-grade games for the Knights.
