Last Wednesday, Police acting on information from Crime Stoppers searched a garage at the rear of a residence in Rutherford. They allegedly located three well-tended cannabis plants that were being cultivated in a grow tent and two cannabis plants being grown in the back yard. In addition it is alleged 160gm of cannabis leaf was also located. A male was issued notice to attend Maitland Local Court charged with possessing cannabis and cultivating a prohibited plant.

Drink driver
On Saturday afternoon police were conducting random breath tests on the New England Highway at East Maitland when then they stopped a vehicle driven by a 22-year-old female motorist. The woman was unable to produce a licence and a check revealed she was in fact an unaccompanied L-plate driver. She was breath-tested and subsequently was found to be driving with the low range level of alcohol in her blood. She will appear at Maitland Court.
iPhone returned
On Sunday a good-spirited Maitland resident found a brand-new iPhone6s in High Street, Maitland and handed it in to police. It was valued at about $1000.
A short while later the phone owner rang. Phone and owner were quickly reunited.
Theft from club
On Thursday evening a woman playing the poker machines at a Maitland club left her wallet and phone in the coin hopper while she left the machine for a short time.
Upon return her property had been stolen.
Police are hopeful CCTV will help with the investigation.
Bullet surrender
Two more lots of unwanted ammunition have been surrendered and police will arrange for the bullets to be taken to their armoury for destruction. Old and unwanted ammunition pose a threat if they get into the wrong hands. Hand them in to police. You will not be prosecuted, even if you are unlicenced.
