A police department in Britain is on the backfoot after winning a sandcastle competition with a sculpture of a crime scene depicting a naked woman with a spade in her back.

Devon and Cornwall Police have been criticised after winning the Cornwall Beach Games and tweeted images of the sculpture, according to the BBC.
"I like a joke as much as the next person but this is a family beach event," said Cornwall Councillor for Falmouth Penwerris Hanna Toms. "As a parent I would not be very happy to explain to my child what it was all about."

"It's trivialising quite a serious matter."
A spokesman for the local police force later said: "If any offence has been cause by the nature of the sculpture, this was never intended and we apologise for that."
Later, on Cr Toms' Facebook page, she noted: "What an interesting few days. Who knew people could be so upset about someone saying that images of murdered naked women weren't that funny."
