The Hunter TAFE Mining Skills Centre graduation is celebrated annually and recognises the achievements of the first year apprentices who will go on to become future leaders in the Hunter’s mining sector.
Special awards were presented on the night to recognise the programs’ highest achiever and two outstanding students.
The evening also included the presentation of the inaugural Hunter TAFE Foundation MEMMES Scholarships.
The scholarship was established by the Mining Electrical and Mining Mechanical Engineering Society (MEMMS) – and was open to Mining Skills Centre graduates who are looking to complete post trade qualifications to advance their career in the industry.
The 23 Mining Skills Graduates are employed as apprentices with local mining and group training organisations and employers including Migas, Novaskill, Programmed Training Services, Bengalla Mining Company, BHP Billiton Mt Arthur Coal, Port Waratah Coal Services, and Rio Tinto Coal and Allied – Hunter Valley Operations and Warkworth.
