The van is the third wheelchair accessible taxi the business operates.
It can hold seven passengers and two wheelchairs, or 11 passengers.
The new vehicle hit the road last week and has already been well utilised.
Maitland Taxi Service office manager Julie Mansini said the business added the extra vehicle to its fleet because they knew many Hunter residents had received National Disability Insurance Scheme support.
Two new drivers have come on board to drive the taxi, which will be primarily based in Raymond Terrace.
The taxi will be available seven days a week.
Ms Mansini said for many local disabled people, taxis are their only form of transport, and are much more accessible than public transport options.
She said their regular clients were over the moon that the additional vehicle was available.
