Michael Eccleston, a teacher at St Joseph’s Campus Lochinvar, began his run from Aberdeen to Mayfield to raise an understanding of the plight of refugees.
Through the five day run Mr Eccleston will visit catholic secondary schools in Muswellbrook, Singleton, Lochinvar, Maitland and Mayfield to spread the important message.
He was inspired to take up the challenge after meeting refugee John Sandy, who walked more than three weeks to make a phonecall to his wife.
Mr Eccleston is documenting his experience under the hashtag #3weeks2days.
“I am hoping the #3weeks2days experience will humanise the plight of refugees which is often politicised with a large focus on negativity,” he told Fairfax Media.
