Kids will be able to pull on some boots, slap on a hat and become immersed in the Wild West experience at Maitland City Library.
Enjoy campfire tales and songs, make dream catchers, or become a cowboy, cowgirl or Native American for the day.
Maitland City Librarian Keryl Collard said there would be a fantastic mix of free events available at all Maitland City Library branches these school holidays.
“My personal pick from the program is the theatre, song and storytelling by children’s performer Renee Price in the Digby Fixit Live show at Rutherford Library,” she said.
With guided and self guided tours running regularly throughout the holidays, kids can experience what life was like behind bars at Maitland Gaol.
Maitland Gaol Coordinator Gordon Sauber said the tours of the gaol are always a popular choice but these holidays will also have a Beanbag Cinema.

“Visitors will be able to sit back, relax and watch Basil the Great Mouse Detective in the comfort of a beanbag or a chair in the auditorium,” he said.
The Maitland Regional Art Gallery (MRAG) is another great school holiday destination for kids.
In addition to MRAG’s Free Art Sundays, the art gallery runs school holiday workshops inspired by exhibitions and this winter it’s all about dropping in to ‘see-make-do’.
MRAG Cultural Director Brigette Uren said kids will be able to try their hand at weaving with natural materials, experimenting with collage and texture, or getting their hands messy in the clay play workshop.
