The knife was confiscated and legal action is being taken by police against the boy.
Arrest for drug possession
On Sunday evening, police stopped a vehicle on Cessnock Road, Maitland, after it was seen to be driven erratically.
Police became suspicious and searched the vehicle and 41-year-old driver and allegedly found a quantity of prohibited drugs, cannabis and methyl amphetamine (commonly known as ice).
The man was arrested and charged with possessing and supplying prohibited drugs.
He will be attending Maitland Court.
Theft of hair dye
On Friday afternoon, a 27-year-old female was allegedly detected stealing hair dye from a well known Greenhills supermarket by a loss prevention officer.
The woman was detained until police arrived and was issued an infringement notice for stealing.
Loss prevention officers patrol most supermarkets in Maitland.
If people shoplift, eventually they will be caught.
Help needed to identify offender
Last Thursday morning, an offender broke into the Lorn Butchers, 48 Belmore Road, Lorn.
As yet the offender has not been identified.

Slashed tyres
In the early hours of Tuesday morning, an offender slashed two tyres on a silver Hyundai sedan that was parked in Lee Street, Maitland.
The identity of the offender is unknown so police are calling on any person with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Wallet found
Last Wednesday an honest citizen located a wallet on the footpath in Vincent Street, Cessnock. The finder brought the wallet, which contained in excess of $100, into the police station and we were able to give it back to its owner.
Ice found during vehicle search
Early on Tuesday morning, police stopped a vehicle for RBT In Buckland Avenue, Cessnock. Police found that the 38-year-old male driver was in fact an unlicensed driver, not having a licence since 2012.
Police became suspicious and searched the vehicle, allegedly finding a small quantity of the prohibited drug methyl amphetamine, commonly known as ice. The driver will now be attending Cessnock Court.
Disqualified rider
Police have been carrying out patrols of Cessnock and Weston as a response to complaints by the public about unregistered motorbikes being ridden around. On Wednesday afternoon police stopped a rider in Fourth Street, Weston after there was an issue with the registration plate of the cycle. The registration was in order but the rider was disqualified from riding until 2023 due to previous driving offences.
