The Hunter rose as one in support of 22-year-old Newcastle Knights player Alex McKinnon who suffered a horrific, career-ending spinal injury against the Melbourne Storm in March of 2014.
More than 26,000 braved the cold, decked out in Knights colours, on July 19 at Hunter Stadium to rally behind the NRL’s Rise for Alex Round.
It was an emotional day, one that’s carved in the Hunter’s history and two years on, we look back and are reminded of the Hunter’s allegiance and strength.
