The Maitland netball courts were a sea of colour as 119 teams from across the Hunter descended on the city for the annual All Age Gala Day on Sunday.

Visiting teams came from Muswellbrook, Singleton, Nelson Bay, Cessnock, Port Stephens, Medowie and Newcastle as well as Maitland.
It’s a great fun day and we get to introduce some younger players into the team in a more relaxed format.

From learners through to some of the Hunter’s leading teams including reigning Matiland A-grade premiers The George Tavern the emphasis was on fun.
Unlike representative carnivals, the gala day is designed for regular teams to pit themselves against other teams from across the Hunter.
George Tavern skipper Amonie Lindsell said she and her teammates might be suckers for punishment but they had no hesitation in backing up after Saturday’s top of the table clash against Hills Solicitors.
“It’s a great fun day and we get to introduce some younger players into the team in a more relaxed format,” Lindsell said.
