For the last six years, Motorfest has driven to make the Hunter a mecca for the type of car lovers who fanatically restore and modify hotrods, street machines, bikes and trucks.
Part exhibition of amazing machines and human creativity, part trade show with hundreds of cars on show.
Earlier this month Mr Corke told Fairfax Media he founded Motorfest to satisfy his love of hotrods – a car that he said takes a special class of person to love.
“Anyone can have a brand new whatever, but you need to be a classy person to own a hot-rod. You need to be very passionate,” he said.
For purists like Mr Corke, the golden era of automobiles are models produced before 1948 – like Noel McTaggart’s ‘37 Ford Roadster.
“It’s a 351 Cleveland FMX transmission, a nine-inch rear, a HG front-end and a Torana Rack,” Mr McTaggart said.
“Don’t worry, hotrod fans know what that means.”
But Motor Fest is about more than just the classic pre-1948 hotrods.
It also brings together street machines; a category that includes Australian classics Falcons and Commodores.
The glory days of Australian motorsport will be well represented.
Mr Corke said motorbikes, with a particular emphasis on the Hunter’s proud speedway tradition will also be on display.
For those who enter vehicles, there will be cruises around the area and competitions.
The best hot-rod in the show will take home the coveted “Rat-Fink” trophy which bears the likeness of a famed classic-car mascot.
Entry fee will be $5 for adults; $15 for a family with children aged under 16 years free.
Parking will be a gold coin donation and gates will open from 9am until 2pm on Sunday.
