No. 1 Waterworks Road is an 8.8 hectare parcel of residentially zoned land.
A council meeting this week heard how adjoining residents are concerned about long grass and weeds on the site which is attracting snakes and vermin.
Cr Henry Meskauskas moved at the meeting that council take action against the owner, ordering them to clean up the site.
"There are properties like this scattered across the city. I'm constantly getting calls asking for council to step in and get the sites cleaned up," he said. "At this particular site the property is overgrown, there's vermin and rotting furniture."
Cr Meskauskas said the owner has been contacted on numerous occasions to bring the property up to a reasonable standard. "It is an eyesore and becoming a health issue particularly with snake season upon us."
