The great playwright’s comedy begins with Charles Condomine, English novelist and socialite, inviting local clairvoyant Madame Arcarti to a dinner party with friends.
But it all goes wrong when the psychic summons the ghost of his long-deceased ex-wife, Elvira.
When his new wife Ruth becomes frustrated by sharing her husband’s attention with Elvira’s ghostly presence, all pandemonium breaks loose in high-spirited hilarity.
Reviewer Julie McLaren said the back-and-forth between Ruth and Charles are a pleasure to watch.
“Throw in the ex-wife Kellie Taylor (as Elvira) and the ménage-a-trois of banter from the trio is fast-paced and very amusing,” she said.
Blithe Spirit will run at the Rep Theatre on September 23, 24, 30; and October 1 from 8pm with a matinee on September 25 from 2pm.
Tickets can be purchased at the door for $22 or $17 for concession.
