Maitland Triathlon Club's 2016-17 season starts with biathlon

Will Dawes took out the opening race, which did not include the swim leg as the Maitland pool was closed, in a time of 53min 38 seconds from Ben Peterson, who won the 35-44 years category in 54:59.

Chloe Hollingsworth was the first woman home recording a time of one hour and four seconds. She finished ahead of Melissa Boucher, who won the 35-44 years in a time of 1hr7min06.

Greg Vitnell won the men’s 45+ years in one hour even.

It was a strong start to the new season with 40 competitors in the senior ranks and 57 taking part in the sub-junior, junior and intermediate ranks.

Ky Lowry and Ben Edstein won the 14+ and 14 years boys categories and Alison Morgan narrowly won the girls 14+ years from Alannah James.

The next race of the series, which will include a swim leg, is on Sunday, October 23.
