The fresh food buzz in Maitland CBD had shoppers ticking off their weekly shopping list on Thursday as they looked through the array of produce on offer.

The Maitland produce market has once again been hailed a success, and this time shoppers also had the opportunity to buy free range eggs produced nearby.

Oakhampton producers Austin and Laurel Breiner produce thousands of eggs on their property every week. The couple allow their hens to roam around the farm and graze on the pastures, which ensure shoppers receive a quality product.

They were among seven producers who brought a wide range of vegetables to the market. The aromas of freshly picked kale and peas, in the snap, snow and original variety, filled the air.

Shoppers who now visit the market each month said they could not believe how fresh the produce was – or how long it lasted.

The next market will be held on Thursday, October 27, between 7am and 12 noon outside Millers in the Maitland mall.
