Riverlights Workshops
Maitland’s libraries are offering a broad range of activities led by a series of lantern making workshops in readiness for the upcoming Riverlights Multicultural Festival on October 8.
There is a workshop at each of the branch libraries and the activities suit children aged five to 14:
- Thornton Library Wednesday 28 September from 10.00am to 11.30am
- Maitland Library on Friday 30 September from 10.00am to 11.30am
- East Maitland Library on Friday 30 September from 2.00pm to 3.30pm
- Rutherford Library on Tuesday 4 October from 10.00am to 11.30am
In addition there are a range of other activities at the libraries throughout the holiday period including science experiments, Lego fun, Pokémon training, eco art and more. Kids can get up close and personal with Australian wildlife when the library hosts some of the friendly staff and animals from Blackbutt Reserve. Maitland Gaol
Maitland Gaol continues to offer opportunities to lock up the kids these holidays, with guided and self guided tours to keep them on the straight and narrow and join the discovery with Snitch’s Activity Sheet. Piece the Puzzle Together gives kids the opportunity to decorate their own jigsaw puzzle and Pop stick and Matchstick Art allow kids to make a photo frame out of pop sticks and matchsticks.

Maitland Regional Art Gallery
The Maitland Regional Art Gallery (MRAG) has a host of activities on offer these school holidays too. There are the Free Art Sundays which cater to all ages, and Code Breaker 1.0 and Code Breaker 2.0 to get kids active in locating hidden treasures around the Gallery. While at the Gallery, be sure to check out ARTEXPRESS. The annual collaborative exhibition aims to highlight the works of graduating school students from high schools across NSW.

Maitland Pool
Maitland Pool officially re-opened over the weekend. The days are getting warmer and so is the pool. Bring the kids along for a refreshing dip and don’t forget to sign up for the range of programs available this season.
