Maitland and Newcastle are jointly running the Under 14 Australian Basketball Club Championships, with the majority of games at the Maitland Federation Centre daily from 9am with the last games starting at 8pm.
Boys and girls teams from every state and territory are taking part in the championships which kicked off in Maitland on Monday.
The pool matches run through Tuesday, with finals starting on Wednesday and running through to Sunday.
The Maitland Mustangs under-14 girls started their campaign with a narrow 40-44 loss to Geraldton.
The Mustangs are in action against South Adelaide Panthers on Monday at 5.30pm and on Tuesday play Canberra Capitals at 3.30pm.
The Newcastle Hunters under-14 girls and under-14 boys are also taking part in the championships.
