Justin “Alfie” Langer, known for his legendary performance in the crease during the 2000s, will serve as guest speaker for the fundraising event on October 16 from 12pm until 4pm.
Mr Punch, a former Maitland Blacks player, was left paralysed after scrum collapsed last year.
Rugby club president Todd Bowd said Langer’s Sportsmans Lunch will be a follow-on to the club’s first successful fundraiser for Mr Punch back in October last year.
That event saw Michael Hussey and Peter FitzSimons address more than 700 people at the club’s home – Marcellin Park.
“The rugby community is very generous,” Mr Bowd said.
“It looks after each other extremely well.”
Both fundraisers were organised by “The 1877”, a sub-committee of the club that was formed to improve the facilities at Marcellin Park.
Only 250 tickets will be sold to the event and sales have been solid. But Mr Bowd said there were still slots available.
For tickets contact Mr Bowd on 0418 684 672 or David Johnson on 0414 950 304.
