An official NSW State Speedway solo title, the 2016 Speedway Solo Winter Series Grand Final, the chance to impress for spots in the major events of the 2016/2017 Australian speedway season as well as the opportunity to build on personal CVs with an eye on the 2017 British and
European Speedway Leagues will feature as part of the jam packed program.
The Saturday morning session will feature the 2016 NSW State Junior 125cc Speedway Solo Championship, officially sanctioned by Motorcycling NSW.
The title event has drawn a record 21 nominations from riders in four Australian States. Local rider Jack Miles is one of the favoured riders in a high quality field for junior competitors.
Miles was the Kurri Kurri Junior 125cc Club Champion in 2015 and finished on level points with Cowra rider Maurice Brown in this year's Club Championship.
Brown has also nominated for the NSW title and the clash with Miles should be one of the highlights of the Championship.
Connor Bailey from Victoria along with Queenslanders Keynan Rew and Cordell Rogerson are also expected to be serious title contenders.
The 2016 NSW Junior 125cc Speedway Solo Championship will start at 9.30am.
Local riders have a stranglehold on the 2016 Senior Speedway Solo Winter Series. With just this one round remaining, Alan MacDonald (Cessnock) is at the top of the leader board ahead of Josh Pickering (Heddon Greta) and Josh MacDonald (Cessnock).
All three riders not only have an eye on the prize for the Winter Series but are keen to build on their individual records for a shot at a 2017 overseas contract.
Buoyed by the success of Newcastle rider Jason Doyle in the World Speedway Championship and with the final round of the world titles at Etihad Stadium, Melbourne in three weeks time, the racing at Kurri Kurri Speedway this Saturday will be closely contested.
It’s also the eve of the Australian summer speedway season.
The final round of the 2016 Speedway Winter Series for senior and junior 250cc solos is scheduled to begin at noon following the NSW Junior title event.
At the end of racing, the presentation for the 2016 Kurri Kurri Speedway Club Championship will be held along with the presentation for the 2016 Speedway Winter Series at the VIP Cclubhouse area.
The general public are invited to attend the function.
