Police told Fairfax Media the 52-seater bus was travelling past the Rutherford shopping centre on the New England Highway at 4am when it was involved in a crash.
Fairfax Media understands the bus came to a halt on the opposite side of the four-lane highway after it travelled through two metal fences that surround the playground.
Online people said they saw crews still working to remove the bus at about 7am.
Submitted images show a street light pole had been dislodged from the ground and had fallen on the roof of the bus.
The owner of the bus was also contacted and said that while he was not present at the time of the incident, he recieved a phone call telling him no one was seriously injured.
He declined to comment further.
