Pair charged with Kurri Kurri armed robbery

A MAN and woman will face court after an overnight armed robbery in central Kurri Kurri. 

It is alleged the man entered a Lang Street restaurant, produced a pistol and threatened a staff member shortly before 8pm on Wednesday. 

The staff member handed over a sum of money to the man, who left in a car driven by a woman. 

Central Hunter police began an investigation. 

A man, 21, and woman, 28, were arrested a short time later after police stopped a car on First Street at Weston. 

Both were taken to Maitland police station and charged with armed robbery. 

Police also executed a crime scene warrant at a Fourth Street address. 

The pair will face Maitland Local Court on Thursday.
