This is how much-loved real estate agent Adam O’Regan has been remembered during a moving service in Scone.
Hundreds of people packed the grounds at St Luke’s Anglican Church on Wednesday to pay tribute to a man who “threw himself into everything he did”.
“We all loved him very much, Adam was one of a kind,” close family friend Stuart Harborne said.
“I was fortunate to meet him when we were both 14 [years of age] and quickly worked out that he was one of the good guys.
“We built a special bond that was as strong today as it was about 33 years ago.
“He was a pretty good rugby player, he probably wasn’t the fastest guy on the field but he put in so much effort.
“Adam was just a hard worker with everything he did – rugby, pubs, his entertainment business, real estate, relationships, and friendships.
“He took his sport pretty seriously, but it was his ability with horses that was something to be admired.
“I thought that I could ride growing up in pony club life, but Adam was a distinct level above and he had a real gift with horses.
“He was [also] a super proud dad and his kids put themselves into everything they do – sport, drama, and riding – just like him.
“He had a great way of keeping things lighthearted and putting dilemmas and challenges into perspective.
“Adam left nothing on the table, he gave it everything.
“Rest in peace Adam, you will be missed.”
The son of long-term Narrabri community leader and councillor Bevan O’Regan, Adam had been an estate agent in Sydney before moving back to the region.
He was a director of the residential and rural business of Landmark Townsend in Scone.
Adam was killed along with two other men when a vehicle they were in crashed on a property off Waverley Road, Gundy, last Monday.
A five-year-old boy was the only survivor from the tragic accident. Adam is survived by his wife Sally and three children Tully, Alby and Daniel.
