Consignments lifted with a good supply of young cattle suitable to restock. There were limited supplies of young cattle suitable to the trade and lot-feeders.
There were increased numbers of heavy grown steers and cows. Overall the quality was improved and reflected in some of the price changes. All the usual buyers were in attendance and participating. Market trends for young cattle were mostly firm to dearer with the improved quality lifting some price averages significantly.
With seasonal conditions exceptional over a wide area, light weight cattle are becoming difficult to procure in any numbers. These cattle were available and attracted solid competition to sell to a dearer trend. Medium and heavy yearling steers sold on a firm to dearer market trend.
The limited supply of well finished vealers and yearlings suitable to the trade sold to a dearer trend, up to 15c/kg with an improvement in quality. Improved quality and a bit more competition saw the heavy grown steers sell up to 30c/kg dearer. Plain condition cows sold to a cheaper trend with restockers active.
