A seven wicket haul by Western Suburbs paceman Mitchell Fisher almost gave his team an unlikely first-innings win against Kurri Weston on Saturday.

Fisher and Northern Suburbs all-rounder Lincoln Mills were the stars of the round, with Mills taking 4-55, to sit aside his 51 with the bat, to allow Norths to claim a 50-run win against Thornton Park.
Western Suburbs v Kurri Weston
Plovers’ paceman Mitchell Fisher claimed 7-56 to send a fright through the Kurri Weston batting line-up and almost claim first innings points for Weston Suburbs.
However, Kurri Weston skipper Michael Heinrich’s determined 63 ensured the Warriors were able to pass the Plovers total of 141 to be all out for 161.
Heinrich became Fisher’s fifth victim when he was bowled with the score on 7-129.
The skipper had resumed on 41 with Tim Harding on nine after the Warriors finished day one on 4-95 needing just 47 runs for first innings points.
Harding fell for 11 trapped lbw by Fisher and Michael Rees dismissed Casey Capper for eight to leave the Warriors on 6-127.
Grant Lowbridge (18 not out) and keeper Tyler Power (13) ensured the Warriors reached a first innings lead before Fisher cleaned up the tail.
Wests began their run chase in a hurry hopeful of setting a winning total to bowl to.
Rees scored 29 off 18 balls, but Kurri Weston all-rounder Harding was able to stem the momentum capturing Rees, Tom Rumbel (11) and Aaron Mahony (24) to finish with 3-42.
When Andrew Trappel was caught for 15 off the bowling of Simon Marshall, Wests called a halt to their push for an outright victory.
Thornton Park v Norths
Northern Suburbs imposing 7/268 and a four-wicket haul by all-rounder Lincoln Mills proved too much for Thornton Park on Saturday.
Mills backed up his 51 opening Norths innings last week to be the chief destroyer with the ball claiming 4-55.
Ironically, Mills first-innings score was the difference on the scorecard as Thornton were dismissed for 218.
Although teenager Will Fort also had a big say in the win top scoring on day one with 73.
Ben Sayers was the other chief wicket taker for Norths finishing with 2-54 from 18 overs.
Fort, Rex Greaves, Tim Prescott and Zac Mexon got a wicket each as Norths fielders backed up their bowlers with six catches.
