The show will deliver a Paddock to Plate theme where children will learn where their food comes from and have a go at some agriculture pursuits.
They will be able to milk a goat, milk a cow and have a go at shearing a sheep.
“We need to show children where their produce comes from so they know it doesn't magically appear in the supermarket,” Hunter River Agricultural and Horticultural Association functions coordinator Bronwyn Bell said.
“They don’t realise they are so close to all of this agriculture that happens around them.”
Ms Bell hoped the show’s fresh food focus would entice children to eat more vegetables each day.
“We need to teach them the old fashioned values and how the show started around connections through fresh produce,” she said.
Ms Bell said the show used to be a hub of fresh produce, millet and livestock.
