FIREFIGHTERS have extinguished a blaze that broke out at a car wreckers in Weston on Friday evening.

The fire, at the corner of Government Road and Mitchell Avenue, sent a plume of black smoke into the air and was contained before it spread to surrounding bushland.
It took at least five fire trucks to contain the blaze.
A witness at the scene described hearing “loud bangs” as cars were swallowed up by the fire.
The cause was not immediately known on Friday night.
