Cinema manager Yvette Cavanagh said the cinema had a long-standing partnership with anti-domestic violence service Carrie’s Place and she was pleased to help again this year.
Carrie’s Place co-ordinator Jenny Harland said the growing focus on Maitland’s high domestic violence rate had galvanised the community in support of victims.
“For the children and families escaping violence, living at Carrie’s, you can’t imagine what a toy or gift voucher can mean to them,” she said.
Additional toys and food donated will be used in Christmas hampers at the Maitland Neighbourhood Centre. The cinema will serve as a drop-off point until December 16.
