Maitland recovered from a round one loss to defeat Singleton in the John Bull Shield on Sunday.

At Singleton’s Howe Park, the home side won the toss and elected to bat.
Maitland got off to a great start, with the wicket of opener Troy Barnett for 1.
Singleton built from there, with middle order batsmen Myles Cook (44), Cael Smith (33) and Joshua Hardy (29) the best for the home side.
Maitland’s Daniel Smith carved through the Singleton lineup, with 4-12 off four overs.
Alex Seamer (3-17 off seven) and Cameron Bates (3-18 off five) also did some damage with the ball.
Singleton were eventually all out for 164 in the 32nd over.
Maitland managed to knock over the total with five wickets in hand.
Matthew Trappel had an outstanding innings to make 79 no.
He was well supported by opener Lincoln Mills (39) and Simon Marshall (18).
Maitland also had a win in the AGL Second Elevens competition against Cessnock.
Cessnock won the toss and sent Maitland in to bat first at Miller Park, Branxton.
Bumpy Crouch (66), Daniel Scheerer (64 no), Blake Chandler (59 no) and Lleyton Eveleigh all had superb knocks to give Maitland a great total of 4/295.
In reply, Cessnock were all out for just 79 in the 21st over.
Harry King (3-12 from six) came away with the best figures for the away team.
He was well supported by Eveleigh (2-11 off 6) and Aaron Sherritt (2-21 off 4.4).
Elliott Penglaze also picked up a wicket.
