The Saturday night shindig in Cartwright Street was closed down by police at 9.50pm and again at 11.15pm.
Central Hunter Detective Acting Inspector Jerry Bowden said there was a large number of young people at the party who were intoxicated, fighting and causing a nuisance.
Inspector Bowden said the recurring theme with these types of events was that they spread across social media in the lead-up.
He urged people to keep control of who attended their party and plan the event appropriately.
