Publican Ben Quinn said the venue wanted to revive the old-world style entertainment to reclaim one night a month from bad television.
“These type of shows were travelling staples of Australian life, from Winton to Warracknabeal, from Ivanhoe to Iron Knob, from Burnie to Fannie Bay, before the introduction of the electric cane toad,” he wrote online.
Celebrated Hunter singer-songwriter William Crighton will host the events.
Mr Quinn hopes the last Tuesday of the month, beginning on February 28, will see a wide range of performers take advantage of the broad brief. Registration will be held from 6pm for a 7pm kick-off, with a maximum of 15 10 minute acts each night.
