A 20-year-old man has been charged with aggravated break and enter, kidnapping, intimidation, assault and breaching an AVO after the alleged incident in the Cessnock area on February 9.
Police allege the man phoned and abused the teenager at about 1pm before he turned up at her home.
The 20-year-old allegedly kicked in her front door, and forced his way into her bedroom.
He allegedly grabbed her by the neck and threw her onto the bed before he threatened to kill her.
Police allege the man also smashed the girl’s mobile phone, dragged her outside and threw her over a fence before allegedly forcing her into his vehicle.
But the man had not driven far when the teenager fled the vehicle while it was stopped at an intersection.
She ran to a nearby house, where residents helped her and called police.
Officers searched for the man for four days before he handed himself in at Maitland Police Station.
He was refused bail on February 14 and will appear in Newcastle Local Court on April 12.
