Coffee with a Cop is an open event at Michel’s Patisserie Maitland from 10am.
People are invited to go along, ask questions and find out more about the work of Central Hunter police.
The idea is to offer a relaxed encounter, as most of the interactions police have with the community are in emergencies or emotion-fueled situations.
The initiative also aims to break down barriers and allow for a one-on-one interaction.
Central Hunter Acting Superintendent Glenn Blain said he hoped community members would feel comfortable to ask questions, bring concerns, or get to know the officers.
Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by The United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
All community members are invited to attend.
