Plans to revamp Maitland’s historic Belmore Hotel have been approved.

On Tuesday night Maitland City Council unanimously signed off on a development application for alterations to the landmark watering hole.

The hotel’s owners are proposing several alterations to the building.

Cr Brian Burke said the proposal had been advertised and there were no submissions against it.

“This is a feather in our cap the way Maitland council is moving towards improving the CBD,” Cr Burke said.

“One of my (business) suppliers said with CBD events, Maitland council is second to none and this development will add strength to the CBD going forward,” he said.
