The once picturesque location has become a haven for illegal dumping despite repeated reports that these acts will not be tolerated.
The latest mess appeared about one week ago with some rubbish stuffed into Clean Up Australia Day bags.
Clean up Australia Day representative Bill Hackney said if the items had been picked up on clean up day, they would have been collected by now.
“All rubbish would have been picked up within the week after the event which was held on Sunday March 5,” Mr Hackney said.
Fairfax Media reported in January how illegal dumpers had targeted Melville Ford on numerous occasions, with items including a severed pig’s head, a burnt out car and other waste strewn across sections of the land.
West Ward councillor Henry Meskauskas said he has asked council to install CCTV in the area but to no avail and called on residents to report any illegal dumping to council or police.
