The shutdown will begin on Friday night (March 24), as work begins to update a number of facilities at the centre.
The centre will re-open on Monday, April 10. Members will have access to Cessnock Pool and Lakeside Leisure Centre during specified hours.
The works will include the total refurbishment of the male change room, renewal of carpet, painting and other maintenance projects.
Cessnock Mayor Bob Pynsent said the centre is a fantastic community facility and he looks forward to the completion of the works.
“This community facility provides a lot of enjoyment for all residents and it is great to see these upgrades going ahead,” he said.
Cessnock City Council and facility managers Belgravia Leisure thanked residents for their patience over the next fortnight.
“The closure of the pools is to ensure the safety of all pool users. We are working with Belgravia Leisure to ensure members will be informed,” Cr Pynsent said.
Belgravia Leisure is working with council to inform members and users about the closure and alternative access.
Members will be notified by email and mail this week.
