The A-grade grand final between Windsor Castle and Port Stephens has been switched from Coronation Oval to McKeachies. The D-grade final is now at Rotary.

The third grade grand final between Norths and Tenambit has been moved from Thornton 1 to Thornton 3 and fourth grade’s decider between City and Norths is now at Norm Chapman.

Play has begun in under-12 to under-15 grand finals with several games moved to alternate grounds.

Raymond Terrace has been declared under-16 premiers as play was abandoned in the grand final against Northern Suburbs.

The game could not be transferred from Robins Oval as there had already been play. Raymond Terrace posted 185 on the first day two weeks ago led by a century to Jacob Page.

Northern Suburbs skipper Michael Wilson is confident of play in the weekend's first grade cricket grand final between Norths and City United at Lorn Park.

Wilson, whose father Mike is curator at the ground, said Lorn Park was in good condition and barring heavy rain before the weekend play on both days should be possible.

Norths have teams in the grand finals of all five grades and Wilson said training had been first class across all grades and the club is gearing up for a big celebration.

“To get all five teams home would be fantastic. We had five teams in grand finals in 2011 and four got up, so it would be great to go one better,” he said.

If play isn’t possible on the weekend, Norths and the other teams which finished higher on the ladder at the end of the regular season will claim the titles.

“I think everyone wants to play, it wouldn’t be a good way to finish what has been a great season,” Wilson said.

City United skipper Matt Trappel agreed with Wilson and said clubs and the council had been working extremely hard to ensure ground would be ready for play.

“Robins Oval is open and a fair few other grounds as well. I think the association will ensure that grounds are available for all the grades and the juniors to play unless of course we get more heavy rain,” he said.

“I’m hoping that we will have two days play.

“However, we can get a result if we play a one-dayer and I think that should be possible.”
