Two women, aged 35 and 36, were in the vehicle about 10.30am Sunday when correctional officers conducted the search.
Officers allegedly found four strips of a narcotic used to treat opiate addiction, a glass ice pipe, a round of .22 calibre ammunition and what police described as “two sticks fashioned to be used as weapons similar to nunchucks”.
The 35-year-old woman from Tamworth allegedly admitted to owning the ammunition and pipe.
She was charged with possession of ammunition and possession of implements for the administration of prohibited drug.
The 36-year-old from Attunga, near Tamworth, was driving the car.
She allegedly had a disqualified drivers licence.
Police said she was at the jail to visit her partner, after she was prohibited from contacting him under her bail conditions.
She was charged with driving while disqualified and breaching bail.
Both women have been banned from all correctional centres for two years. They will appear at Cessnock Local Court on May 10.
